EV Charger Installation
A Level 2 charger is a 240-volt appliance that runs at high load for hours at a time. It needs its own correctly sized circuit and a panel with the capacity to carry it. Plenty of homes need a small service change first, and we will tell you that before you buy the charger.
What we look at
- Available capacity in your existing panel, by calculation not by eye
- Distance from panel to parking spot, and the route the conductor takes
- Hardwired versus plug-in, and which your charger and your inspector prefer
- Whether a load management device saves you a service upgrade
- Garage, carport or outdoor rating for the equipment
What the install includes
- Dedicated circuit sized to the charger, not to the cheapest wire that fits
- Neat conduit routing, with no drooping cable across a garage wall
- Permit and inspection
- Charger mounted, energized and tested with your vehicle before we leave
- Straight advice on whether you need a panel upgrade first

Common questions
Which charger should I buy?
Whichever one your car maker recommends, in the amperage your panel can actually support. Tell us the model before install day and we will size the circuit to it.
Can you install one in a rental or an HOA garage?
Often yes, with the owner's or association's written approval. We can provide the scope in writing for you to submit.
What if my panel is full?
Sometimes a load management device solves it for a fraction of a service upgrade. Sometimes it does not. We run the calculation and give you both prices.
