Electrical Panel & Service Upgrades
Your panel is the one piece of electrical equipment the whole house depends on. If it is undersized, corroded, or one of the brands that has been recalled or blacklisted by insurers, it is not a project you want to keep putting off.
Signs it is time
- A Federal Pacific, Zinsco, Challenger or Sylvania panel. Insurers routinely refuse to write a policy on these
- Fuses instead of breakers, or a 100-amp service on a home that has been added onto
- Rust, moisture or scorch marks inside the panel
- No room left for a new circuit, or double-tapped breakers
- You are adding an EV charger, a pool, a shop, or a whole-house generator
- Breakers that trip under normal load
What an upgrade includes
- A load calculation so the new service is sized for the house you actually have
- New panel, breakers, grounding and bonding brought to current code
- Permit pulled and inspection scheduled. We handle it
- Coordination with the utility for the service disconnect and reconnect
- Every circuit labeled legibly, and a photo of the finished panel sent to you

Common questions
How long is the power off?
Most panel changes are a one-day job with the power off for four to eight hours. We give you a window before we start so you can plan around it.
Do I need a permit?
Yes, and it protects you. A permitted, inspected panel is documentation for your insurer and for the next buyer. We pull it and meet the inspector.
Will this lower my insurance?
If you are replacing a Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel, it very often does, and in some cases it is the difference between being insurable and not. Send your carrier the inspection sign-off.
